Opening of new Heritage Centre at RAF Sculthorpe

A uniformed DL recently formally re-opened the newly refurbished and enlarged Heritage Centre at RAF Sculthorpe, with USAF colours on parade and a guard of honour.
The old heritage centre at Sculthorpe had reached maximum capacity, yet more artefacts continued to flow in. Consequently, the volunteers, led by Mr Ian Brown, started a campaign to find and refurbish larger premises. The event represented the opening of the new heritage centre following months of fund raising and refurbishment work, which was mostly completed by the volunteers.
HM the late Queen had visited the previous centre almost twenty years ago and commented even then that it appeared that they would benefit from larger premises.
Hundreds turned out on what was a beautiful summer’s day for the re-opening. In his speech Mr Brown thanked all those involved including Mr Gawd who donated the building.
