His Majesty The King has approved the appointment of Michael Gurney DL as Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk.
Born in 1954 Michael lives on the family farm in North Norfolk near Cromer. He served in the Blues and Royals for 13 years and then worked in advertising and marketing in London and Norfolk including 23 years with the Point agency in Norwich. He has been a trustee of the Norfolk Community Foundation, served on the Norwich Diocese Board of Finance; a board member of Norwich4jobs and on the Advisory Board of Norwich Business School. Michael served as High Sheriff of Norfolk 2021/22
The Lord-Lieutenant, Lady Dannatt said “I am delighted that His Majesty has approved Michael as the new Vice Lord-Lieutenant, and I look forward to working closely with him in the future”.
Michael Gurney said, “I am greatly honoured to have this opportunity to continue to support the Lord-Lieutenant and this great county in any way I can”.
The previous Vice Lord-Lieutenant was Peter Wilson MBE who died in September 2022.
